Etching
The blade is submerged into ferric choride to etch the damascus pattern

Rinse
A distilled water and vinegar solution is used to neutralize the etch

After rubbing the blade down with WD-40®, the etched pattern is cleaned and checked to ensure all noticeable scratches have been removed

The Spine
This overhead view shows the open spine. After the blade is removed, heat treated, polished, etched, and sharpened it will be reinstalled and the knife will be complete
